Arrest of alleged associates of ISI-Backed terrorist
In a significant joint operation, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) collaborated with the Mohali police to apprehend six individuals suspected to be associates of the ISI-backed and Pakistan-based terrorist, Harwinder Singh alias Rinda. This operation also led to the recovery of five pistols and ammunition from the possession of the arrested individuals.
The six individuals taken into custody have been identified as Roshan Kumar, Saurab Kumar, Vikram Kumar, Amrinder Singh alias Billi, Arshveer Singh, and Sunny, all hailing from Patiala. These individuals were allegedly involved in various criminal activities, including murder, attempted murder, extortion, dacoity, and inter-state gun trafficking.

Efficient police operation
Punjab's Director General of Police (DGP), Gaurav Yadav, commended the operation's success. The police teams from AGTF, under the supervision of ADGP Promod Ban, arrested the six accused in the Zirakpur area while they were traveling in a Hyundai Verna car. During the operation, law enforcement officials seized five pistols and 20 live cartridges from the suspects.
One of the arrested individuals, Arshveer, had been wanted by the Punjab Police for his alleged involvement in a double murder case in Patiala earlier this year, where two young individuals lost their lives in a stabbing incident. Further investigations have revealed that the arrested suspects were reportedly planning to carry out sensational crimes in the state.

Legal action and ongoing investigations
A fresh FIR has been registered against the arrested individuals under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including theft, extortion, rioting, and unlawful assembly, as well as sections of the Arms Act. The Zirakpur police station is overseeing the ongoing investigation.
